If a picture is worth a thousand words…then here are a couple million to keep you up-to-date on what I’ve been doing lately!

Revving up for another awesome year!
The lovely ladies at ELB gave us a Prowise Interactive Board to demo for a few weeks. I took it to the Health Science Class and introduced it to the teachers and students. They had a great time interacting with the included software and manipulating the activities provided with their online text book. 11/16/2017
The REALM was crawling with creepiness as students worked their way through a BreakoutEDU over The Tell Tale Heart in their English classes. Denizens of The REALM used their deductive and inferencing skills to find answers to clues hidden in the text of Edgar Allan Poe's macabre tale of murder and insanity! It was a perfect way to celebrate Halloween at The REALM! 10/31/2017
My husband and I had the honor of meeting LTC. Allen West (Ret.) during the Joshua High School Navy Ball. We were there supporting our sons who are cadets in the program and both on the Armed Drill team. The NJROTC program at Joshua HS is exemplary and the evening was incredible. 10/4/2017
Denton ISD hosted their annual Think, Interate, Act (TIA) conference in July of this year. Kim and Heather presented and it was an outstanding learning opportunity! Our STEAM MS principal, Brandon Johnson, presented as well! Great keynotes, great presenters and Kim even won a touchscreen Chromebook! Great day! 7/18/2017
Burleson ISD hosted an open Code.org training for teachers in BISD and surrounding districts! We had over 30 people and 7 school districts represented! The FABULOUS Kim Lane came to lead the training and teachers got to try coding first hand! They got great resources to introduce coding into their classrooms and took home some pretty sweet swag! Add a free lunch, provided by Code.org, and it was a fantastic day of learning! 7/14/2017
As part of the Burleson Collegiate High School summer bridge program, I ran a BreakoutEDU where incoming freshmen had to use information they'd learned about their new school, teachers, and staff to break in to our boxes. Waiting inside were treats, campus swag, and the satisfaction of knowing they'd learned a lot about their new school! Special shout out to my son, Caleb Estes, who came to help me for the day (he's the good lookin' kid in the ROTC uniform).
On Tuesday, May 30th, the students and faculty of Brock Elementary did something that no one had ever done before… until now! They participated in the largest BreakoutEDU experience hosted since the inception of the innovative and new educational concept. Huge shout out to Patti Harju who shared her all school Breakout experience so that Burleson ISD could build this one. 5/30/2017
The Academy @ Nola Dunn Coding Club got to visit STEAM Middle School and the zSpace lab at Clinkscale Elementary. They got to explore the 3D Lab equipment, working with robotic arms, architectural plans, bugs, and even a beating human heart. They also made binary bracelets and binary photo match ups. We had a great time! 4/26/2017
In an effort to introduce teachers to the concept of BreakoutEDU and to train them on the THIRTY boxes purchased by the Learning Technologies department, we held our first BreakoutEDU Academy. Almost 40 intrepid teachers gave up 6 hours on a Saturday to participate in a breakout and then learn how to work the locks and write their own breakouts! We had teachers who checked out boxes the very next week to use them with their students...they REALLY like the breakout model! What a great day and what great teachers! 4/22/2017
Soon-to-be-Dr. Evil Lenz (soon-to-be because AP Jason Lenz is working on his doctoral degree)…has kidnapped the KMS Librarian, Mrs. April Kuehler, in an attempt to stop students from reading!!! First KMS…then the world! Our students must join together into two teams and stop him! 3/24/2017
We really enjoyed getting to work with the Campus Leadership Team on SAMR and Tech in T-TESS. After enjoying a wonderful breakfast provided by Triumph Learning, our fearless leaders dove into the SAMR pool with a BreakoutEDU activity. Then it was on to looking at T-TESS with a technology focus. We really had a great time interacting with the principals and getting to hear their great ideas!3/7/2017
