I got to work with a wonderful teacher from Centennial HS named Yvonne Hensley to put together a project-based learning activity called Lit Tank. Based on the TV Show, Shark Tank, the students had to create a business, product, app, or service that had something to do with literature or literacy. We had some AMAZING submissions! Everything from cruise lines to bakeries! The kids had to create a pitch site that included a business plan, a budget, a persuasive essay, a social media campaign, a logo, and more. Here are some examples: They also had to present to judges that I recruited from different departments in the districts. Everyone from teachers and principals to directors and assistant superintendents. Their scores were combined, and giant checks for $1 Million were delivered to the winner in each period and the overall 11th grade winner. Can't wait to do this again next year.
