I have a great team of teachers from Kerr MS that joined me at Region XI for an Aurasma training. Aurasma is software that allows you to create augmented reality - the layering of digital media over still images. Here's a demo of that: The team wasted no time integrating Aurasma into their lesson on types of government. Dan Betsill, art teacher and 6th grade Social Studies, drew several different ostrich heads that resemble famous people (I'll explain the ostrich connection another time). The kids could scan the heads with the Aurasma app, watch a video clip that demonstrated a type of government, and then work to answer questions about that type of government. Pretty fun! Bestill, Blan, Churchward, and Essex really worked hard to make this a really engaging learning opportunity for th e kids. Ryan Churchward, also on the 6th grade team, brought Aurasma into his yearbook class. KMS will be the first yearbook in BISD using augmented reality. Go Cougars! Here's what that day looked like!
